Welcome again to the UCL American Society!
Enrollment for all affiliated student societies at Students' Union UCL, including the UCL American Society, starts September 2, 2026 (Wednesday). While we strongly encourage students who are from the US, have US citizenship/nationality, and/or have other close ties to the US to join to strengthen the cultural and social development of UCL's small (US) American community, we welcome all eligible prospective members to join regardless of their nationality.
Those who are students of universities other than UCL, visiting students, Honorary Life Time Members of Students' Union UCL, and UCL alums may need to consult this page from Students' Union UCL (https://studentsunionucl.org/clubs-societies/visiting-associate-membership) before they can join the UCL American Society. Under Students' Union UCL regulations in effect at time of writing, such members face various restrictions, such as not being able to participate in our Society's elections (even if membership fees are paid).
To join, please click the banner on the lower-left corner of your screen (at time of writing) to visit our Students' Union UCL page. You will then get the option to sign up for either a free taster membership or our Standard Membership (£5 GBP/academic year). (If you visit the page before Wednesday, you will instead get the option to sign up to get an automatic email when membership sign-ups open.)
Our free taster membership is a great way to introduce yourself to the UCL American Society's world of wonder, especially at the beginning of the academic year. The Standard Membership is the next logical step in cementing both your role in the UCL American Society and our role in the UCL community, as only paid members count towards our 30-member minimum quota to remain affiliated with Students' Union UCL, and only paid members who joined at least 28 days before the date they wish to participate in an election are generally eligible to vote and/or run for election in our Society's leadership elections.
While the Standard Membership is currently our Society's primary ongoing revenue stream, it continues to represent extraordinary value for money in an age of intensifying structural economic challenges in both the US and UK, with the fee remaining the same as in 2013 (thereby maintaining a 0% overall inflation rate!).
Thank you again for your ongoing support of our UCL American Society, and here's to another year of exploration, discovery, and dialogue!
